In commemoration of the International Day of the Girl Child 2022, as passed by the United Nations General Assembly on December 19, 2011, under resolution 66/70 that declared October 11 as the International Day of the Girl Child mainly to recognize girls’ rights and the unique challenges girls face around the world. Right Path joined the rest of the world in commemoration of this day and focused its attention on addressing some of the challenges girls face as well as promoting girls’ empowerment and the fulfillment of their rights since it’s the year’s theme, through creating awareness and equipping the girl child with skills in menstrual health so as to manage menstruation without embarrassment or stigmatization at Kimasa Primary school in Jinja- Uganda.
The event took place in the morning hours and benefitted over 110 adolescent girls who acquired skills in how to make reusable sanitary wear and also received a Right Path menstrual hygiene kit to aid them through the adolescence stage (the kit included a bucket, reusable sanitary pads, a small towel, and a bar of soap).
This year’s theme was:” Our time is now-our rights, our future”.
